Dear Members

Sustained buying by foreign funds and stock market reuglator SEBI’s decision to allow physical settlement of stock derivatives boosted the market sentiments last week and closed at 17,955 points..

India has finally got a symbol for the Rupee and joined a select group of elite countries whose currencies have an unique identity. The design includes both the Devnagiri 'Ra' and the Roman capital 'R'.

SEBI in its circular released on 15th July, 2010, allowed physical settlement of both stock options and stock futures. At present only cash settlement of derivatives is allowed. Stock exchanges will now have the flexibility to offer a combination of cash settlement for stock options and physical settlement for stock or physical settlement for stock options and cash settlement for stock futures. A stock exchange may introduce physical settlement in a phased manner as per the new circular released.
